The radiation protection course is mandatory and is assessed by means of an exam. In Switzerland, the course is offered at four locations (Basel, Villingen, Lausanne, Mezzovico). The course consists of a theory section, a practical section, and an exam. The various sections can be completed at the respective locations or partly as block courses. The theory part is offered as classroom teaching or e-learning.
As a candidate for the title of specialist in surgery, advanced radiation protection (type B – radiation) is required, or, to put it in more complex terms, the “expert course in radiation (MA 5) for doctors in the high, medium, and low dose range (type B)”.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) focuses in particular on the importance of teamwork and communication, as well as care systems and emergency care following cardiac arrest. The ACLS course also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In the ACLS course, knowledge is imparted in large groups, while case-based scenarios are practiced in small groups at learning stations and test stations. To successfully complete the course, participants must demonstrate the skills they have acquired at all learning stations and pass a practical test, bag-mask ventilation test, and written exam.

AOTrauma offers various courses for trauma surgeons. The importance of AO principles and surgical treatment of bone fractures are taught and explored in depth.
