e-logbook

At the beginning of your training, you should create the required e-logbook. It contains the learning objectives of the training and serves as documentation of your progress.

Create an FMH ID (no membership required) and log in on the e-logbook page.

Each new job change must be documented as a separate employment in the e-logbook. All quantitative learning objectives, such as the OP figures in our case, are also recorded in the e-logbook. The SIWF/FMH recommends issuing a “SIWF certificate” annually and submitting it to your superior for review and confirmation, but no later than when changing jobs. Special cases, such as rotations to a non-specialist clinic, must also be recorded.

Therefore, create an e-logbook as early as possible and document everything. Ultimately, the e-logbook will serve as a platform for submitting your title application.

You can find an interesting presentation on the e-logbook in this presentation. Mr. Lukas Wyss from the SIWF gave this presentation at the HIDI 2023.

How I do it (HIDI)

Every year in late summer/autumn, the SYS organizes a congress for you. The motto of the congress is “How I Do It” and consists of short presentations of 30 minutes each (including discussion) on common surgical procedures. The aim of the presentations is to describe a procedure step by step and to also show you the “pit-falls” of it. In other words, quite pragmatically – the craft of surgery. The event is recognized by the SGC as an education event.
